Limit OrderThe design of the American Buffalo gold coin is based on the design of a 5-cent coin by sculptor James E. Fraser from 1913. The buffalo on the reverse is the Black Diamond specimen, which was an attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Unfortunately, it is not known from tradition which Indian chief was the model for the image on the obverse and it has not yet been established beyond doubt.
